PlasmaCar Review & Giveaway

One of the things I always forget on Christmas morning is extra batteries. I spend all of this time picking out the perfect gifts for Christmas and 9 times out of 10 they require batteries to operate. What happened to the good ole' days when a little bit of manpower was all you needed to get that toy working? Luckily, there is a toy out there that doesn't require batteries that will still delight kids of all ages, the PlasmaCar.

PlasmaCar is a mechanical marvel that uses kid-power and a little bit of help from inertia, gravity and friction to get it going. While the PlasmaCar may sound like a complicated contraption it is actually quite simple. It boasts six wheels, a seat, footrests and a steering wheel. Made from strong ABS plastic the PlasmaCar is built to last. The PlasmaCar also comes in a variety of colors to choose from. Most importantly, it has been extensively tested and meets or exceeds all of the international safety standards.


We recently had a chance to review the PlasmaCar in red. When it arrived I thought I would try to put the PlasmaCar together on my own. I mean, it only came with a few pieces to assemble so I thought I would be alright. After managing to get the first step completed the directions confused me a bit and I got C to help. After he got it together we were ready to ride! The PlasmaCar best functions on a smooth, flat surface but all we have is our tile floor in the kitchen. So I hopped on (yes, it is for adults too! up to 220 lbs on flat surfaces and 120lbs on rough surfaces) and gave it a try. While we did move some, the wheels kept getting stuck in the grout lines on the floor. So we let Princess P hop on a take it for a whirl. Of course, she was using her feet to push the PlasmaCar as she cruised around the floor with her monkey. (She is still a bit too small to operate the PlasmaCar correctly.)


So next we headed out to the sidewalk to see if that would work better. (And to give our neighbors a bit of entertainment.) To get the PlasmaCar going I turned the steering wheel from left to right and boy was I off! It is a small little thing but it can gain some speed, especially if you are headed down a slight incline. Stopping was easy, I just stopped turning the steering wheel and put my feet down. For smaller kids helmets might be a good idea. It is not a far fall off of the PlasmaCar, but it still is a good idea encase they hit a bump and become dislodged.

I can see how the PlasmaCar would be hours of entertainment for kids. For example, our niece was over here visiting P a couple of days ago and it seemed like she was on it the whole time she was here. But the best thing is the PlasmaCar doesn't require batteries or any other form of power other than the kid generated kind. So the PlasmaCar will keep going and going and going.
